COTA SA's 2025-26 State Budget Submission

Free ambulance services and PATS reform key budget priorities for older South Australians

Based on our engagement with thousands of older South Australians and what you've told us about the challenges that impact your day to day lives, we are pleased to release our 2025-26 State Budget Submission. In it we call on the State Government to address cost of living pressures, access to health and wellbeing, social connections, and older South Australians living in regional SA in the upcoming State Budget.

COTA SA Chief Executive Miranda Starke joined Graeme Goodings on 5AA last week to talk further about what we want to see from the budget for older South Australians, you can listen to that interview here.

Do you have a story to share around these issues, we'd like to hear your thoughts - email us at cotasa@cotasa.org.au or call us on 08 8232 0422.

March Forward! Inaugural SA Women's Week

Office for Women was proud to announce that this is the inaugural SA Women’s Week! Commencing on 1 March and concluding on International Women's Day, 8 March, this week aims to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women and girls in South Australia, spark dialogue and encourage everyone to take action to advance gender equality in our State

SA Women’s Week supports this year’s UN Women International Women’s Day theme - March Forward – it’s time to turn promises into progress. We look forward to seeing this progress become a reality for all women - including older women.

Advocating for the unique needs and experiences of older women

"As an older female, living alone with no super and relying on age pension only, it's very limiting"

We know that older women often encounter additional challenges due to a lifetime of lower wages, gender inequality, and caregiving responsibilities, which leave them more vulnerable to poverty, health issues, and housing instability.

This SA Women's Week, we're turning the spotlight on the challenges and barriers to ageing well faced by older women as well as on our advocacy to address these issues.

A warm welcome to our new volunteers!

This year we've welcomed a host of new volunteers who have undergone training at COTA SA. We're delighted that several of our new volunteers have now started working on reception and others will be going out into our community and presenting Let’s Talk Aged Care community sessions. A big welcome and many thanks to Mieke, Shreyash, Felix, Sam, Anna, Elaine and Patrick for joining our team! Thank you also to our experienced reception volunteers Diane, Julie and Kim for all the support shown to them!

Pictured here are Mieke and Kim.

Become a COTA Visitor

Volunteering doesn’t have to be time consuming. Giving just one hour a fortnight as a COTA Visitor can make a world of difference to the lives of older people across metro Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills. Make this the year you volunteer!
